1.The Dachstein Stairway
The 14 step stairway is perched 1,300 feet above the ground in the Austrian Alps, near the town of Schladming and is the final stop to a 100 meter long suspension bridge that is the highest such construction in Austria. This stairway is only for visitors with nerves of steel.
2. The Glacier Skywalk
Tucked deep in the heart of the Canadian Rocky Mountains is one of the latest skywalk adventures, the Glacier Skywalk, located in Banff Alberta Canada. Visitors can take a walk 275 meters above the Sunwapta Valley on aglass platform that offers spectacular views of the surrounding mountain peaks and trees below.
3. CN Tower Edge Walk
The CN Tower Edgewalk is an additional activity at the CN Tower, Toronto, Canada. The CN Tower is no longer the tallest freestanding structure in the world, it does offer an experience that is unlike anything else. The edge walk takes place on a ledge around the top of the towers main pod. It stands at 356 meters and you can walk along the rim of the ledge while leaning back over the city with nothing but open air between you and the ground.
4. Grand Canyon Skywalk
This steel and glass walkway is a horseshoe-shaped bridge that stands four thousand feet above the ground and extends 70 feet over the lip of the Grand Canyon in Arizona near the Colorado River. Visitors walk on a clear four inch thick glass bottom, they can hear over the railing or look down through the glass to see the canyon. The structure can withstand over 71 million pounds of weight. It is so strong that it can hold the weight of 71 loaded 747 passenger planes.
5. Tianmen Mountain Skywalk
The Tianmen mountain in Hunan China has been called one of the most beautiful mountains in the world by many who have been there. Adventurous thrill-seeking travelers can cross the glass skywalk also known as the walk of faith. It is 60 meters long and stands over 1400 metres high. It is said to give a thrilling feeling like walking in the sky.
6. Skywalk Tower
The Sky Tower is an observation and telecommunications tower located in Auckland New Zealand. At 328 meters, it is known to be the tallest man-made structure in the southern hemisphere. It offers breathtaking views of the city up to 80 kilometers in every direction. The Skywalk experience on this tower is very similar to that of the CN towers EdgeWalk in Toronto.
7. Skypoint Climb
At 270 meters, Skypoint Climb is Australia’shighest external building climb and features an incredible 360-degree view of the Gold Coast. The climb starts on the 77th level of the sky point observation deck of the Q1 building in Surfers Paradise. Participants travel upwards until they reach the highest point and then enjoy the amazing view until they descend back to the 77th level.
8. The Ledge Willis Tower
The Ledge at Willis Tower’s skydeck stands at 1353 feet 110 stories above the streets of downtown Chicago. This is a very popular spot among travelers. Over 500 people have proposed on the ledge. The transparent boxes offer an incredible view of the city and it’s definitely worth the trip to Chicago.
9. Titlis Cliff Walk
This bridge on Mount Titlis in the Swiss Alps hangs at 10,000 feet above sea level and is said to be the highest elevation suspension brige in all of Europe. What makes this bridge extremely terrifying is not only its height, but also that it is 100 meters long and only a meter wide.
10. Haohan Qiao Glass Suspension Bridge
China has replaced a terrifying wooden bridge with a glass-bottom one. This astonishing glass bridge is almost 1,000 feet long, hovering 590 feet above the valley in Pingjiang County in Hunan. The floor is made of double-layered glass panes almost an inch thick and is 25 times stronger than normal glass.
