Nora Lum was in born June 2, 1988, known professionally as Awkwafina, is an American actress, rapper, and comedian.
Awkwafina is co-creator, writer, and executive producer of the Comedy Central series. Awkwafina hosted the short-form talk show web series Tawk for the digital production company Astronauts Wanted from 2015 to 2017.
Awkwafina played a leading role in the comedy-drama film The Farewell (2019), for which she received critical acclaim and won the Golden Globe Winning Award for best acting.

American actress and comedian Awkwafina took to her social media handle and addressed the criticism she has received over her “blaccent” controversy.
Blaccent is a term which refers to non-Black individuals adopting a Black voice, connected to allegations of cultural misappropriation. The actress has faced criticism over the issue in some of her recent roles, most notably as Goh Peik Lin and Constance in Crazy Rich Asians and Ocean’s 8.
The Golden Globe-winning actress whose real name is Nora Lum also announced that she will be quitting Twitter following years of accusations of allegedly using African American Vernacular English (AAVE) in her music and some of her movies and for alleged cultural appropriation.
Awkwafina tweeted, “To my fans, thank you for continuing to love and support someone who wishes they could be a better person for you. I apologize if I ever fell short, in anything I did. You’re in my heart always.”
